A re-telling of A Little Mermaid. I really loved it and got sucked into the world easily. I love retelling of fairy tales; some of my favorites have been by Robin McKinley. This one just notched a place on my bookshelf. Lenia, the mermaid, longs for the world above. Mira has lost her heart to the enemy prince. The sea witch herself isn't evil at all, but sad with her knowledge. There is love all around, sisterly love, romantic love, a teacher for his student (innocently so, people! not in a disgusting, taking advantage kind of way), love for parents gone, love for parent still there. Based on this book, I'll pretty much pick up anything Carolyn Turgeon writes!
