This was such a well-written fantasy...I lost myself for hours following the story of Frey. I must get Pieces of Eight as quickly as I can to follow the story and learn more about what truly happened to her mother, what the catalyst was, why Chevelle has appointed himself her watcher and doesn't seem to harbor ill will towards her, etc. I feel like this book could have been longer, we could have more glimpses into the past, but at the same time I wouldn't change it and make it into an epic elf tale. It was satisfying and enjoyable and magical just hte way it is, although it left me wanting much, much more. To the second book!
