There are some books that you just cannot put down. There are others you keep putting down because you have a hard time getting into it and it's a bit slow. This is one of the latter. Usually, I like to read all of my books in one sitting. This one was easily put down to do other chores, etc. It's not to say the book was bad; I was interested in the Verniers and what would happen, it's just that I kept getting lost along the way. The tenuous connect between the past and the present was interesting, but I found myself wanting to skip the "present day" sections and just stay in the past and follow that story. I thought the characters could be flushed out a bit more, a bit more conversation, a bit more everything. It felt like slight glimpses as opposed to full story. Not a reread.
