A_TiffyFit's Booklikes

I probably won't blog here as much as I do on my actual blog, A_TiffyFit's Reading Corner. But I'm sure you'll see me here often enough! Don't be shy. Say hi! Tell me what you're reading!

Reading progress update: I've read 7%

Divergent Series Complete Box Set - Veronica Roth to go!!!!! dammit

Let's be honest...

I haven't really figured out Booklikes. I thought it auto updated from goodreads, but it certainly doesn't look like that. Annnnnd I'm too lazy to keep a blog, post my reviews to goodreads and amazon, AND five other things.

So if you think this blog is lacking or outdated, then it probably is. Lo siento. But you know where you can fiiiiiiiiiiind me! :D

The Thousand Year Curse: 1 (The Curse Books) - Taylor Lavati Review to come. 3.5 stars
Left - T.R. Graves Review to come.

The Billionaire's Salvation (The Billionaire's Obsession ~ Max)

The Billionaire's Salvation (The Billionaire's Obsession ~ Max) - J.S. Scott I told you these are addictive! They're sexy, sweet, touching, delicious morsels of romance that are my total guilty pleasure. They include women love interests who are not thin as boards, men who love their curves, rich as sin men with personal issues that they have to work through, and men who are totally devoted to their one, chosen love. Loyalty, sexiness, all encompassing love... Love these romances from JS Scott! I need to read her vampire series next!
Letting Go - Carrie Lange This was a very moving book that explores not only those who commit suicide, but the aftermath for the survivors: the ones they left behind. It is incredibly emotional, frustrating, and really makes you think about the thoughtless remarks that come out of people's mouths, even if they are well-meaning. Tar and Rale's story was just as heartbreaking as Dan and Anne's, and their inability to let go. This is not an easy read due to the subject matter at hand. It isn't a breezy book. It's thought-provoking, heartwrenching, sad, and yet...hopeful. There is hope. There is always hope. Dan thought everyone would be better off if he was no longer in the world, that his pain would stop as soon as he pulled the trigger. But it didn't. He had to learn to let go first, but how could he when he sees his Anne so tormented?

As you journey with Dan and Anne and others, I think you'll run a gamut of emotions from sympathy and empathy to shock to contemplation of people in your own life, etc. The bigger picture of this book is heartfelt and emotional and true: keep living. You are worth saving. Don't give up. When you need help, reach out and ask for it, either from someone you trust or that hotline. There are people to help. You are not alone. <3 <3 <3 <3<br/>

Courtney Crumrin, Volume 4: Monstrous Holiday Special Edition - Ted Naifeh (Artist) Review to come.
Broken Beauty (Broken Beauty Novellas #1) - Chloe Adams This was tough and infuriating to read. Incredibly well written and totally captures the ignorance, asshole-ness, and full out stupidity of current politicians that discuss such bunk as "legitmate rape."

My heart broke for Mia, over and over and over again. Having money doesn't mean you have a good life. Not only is she a victim of rape to two fucking assholes who should have their penises chopped off, but then she's victimized again and again by her father, her father's lackeys, her uncle, her shrink, everyone. Why? Because daddy is a politician and running a campaign.

What makes me sick is that this story happens EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. and you have fucktarded women like Shea who writes shit that makes the VICTIM claim responsibility for her own rape. This rape culture in the United States needs to stop. IT NEEDS TO STOP. I'm disgusted. My stomach is twisting. My heart is breaking for this young teenage girl whose father is seemingly going to force her to carry her rapist's baby because he fed her some bunk about legitimate rape...how a woman's body will not allow a pregnancy if raped. Are you kidding me?!

For every single politician who said anything REMOTELY like this (I'm looking at you Todd Akin of Missouri, you dumb fuck), I suggest you go back to school and think about how you would feel if any of those victims were your wives, your sisters, your daugthers, your mothers. Oh, unless you're like Mia's dad. Then I guess you just don't give a shit and will use the experience to bolster your ratings, huh? Assholes.

Shit. This book is raw and powerful and was really really hard to read. And it isn't even over yet. This was just scratching the surface. *sigh*

This is a far cry from my normal reviews, isn't it? This book will piss you off though. You will be so mad at the people surrounding Mia. Maybe it will be an eyeopener to you to our current culture. It even happens here on goodreads where authors and reviewers are being told to "go get raped" or "should be sodomized".
Finding Esta (Supes, #1) - Shah Wharton Review to come. Book tour!
Heart of the Billionaire ~ Sam - J.S. Scott After reading Simon and Kara's story, I totally had to get Sam and Maddie's. I'm an addict that way...these books are a total guilty pleasure. Sexy, steamy romance, hot alpha male, a feminine female lead who is also independent, just a total bon-bon of a book!
The Billionaire's Obsession: The Complete Collection: Mine For Tonight, Mine For Now, Mine Forever, Mine Completely - J. S. Scott I enjoyed Simon and Kara's story, even if Simon gets a little .... high-handed, I thought it was adorable. These two are passionate and compliment one another well. A steamy read that definitely fogged up my kindle!
